Building Your Own AR (Part 6)
Welcome to The Firearms creed! We’ve been talking about building your very own AR. Before we end this, I would just like to recap on some helpful things. Gathering the list of parts, you want to buy is an important step before going through with the purchase. Some will wing it and just buy the parts as they go on, but some that are a little more methodical will plan the build beforehand. Whatever works best for you is fine, but there are advantages to planning.
We understand that some people have tight budgets, and some may have more expendable income than others. There are certainly areas of your rifle that you can afford to go more budget-friendly on. Receiver sets are one of those areas. As long as you do your due diligence with research, you can easily find companies that have great deals on great products. And if you even have the time and you aren’t in a rush, then you have the option to also shop sales. You can even save money on areas like triggers by going with brands that are owned by popular companies. Geissele owns another brand named ALG that’s more cost-friendly. This ensures that you get a good product with great QC at a lower cost.
Areas of focus would be your BCG and your barrel. These are going to be very important components to having a long-lasting rifle. If you have a good solid foundation, then you can always upgrade everything else from there. Also, take note that if you decide to go with a 14.5 or 13.9 barrel length that is pinned and welded, also buy that gas block that you intend to use for the life of that barrel. It will save you some frustration later.
I hope all of this information helps, and we will by no means be done with this conversation as there are many people that always have questions and constantly new products being made that change the game. I can’t wait to delve deeper into some of these topics in the future with you all and hope to see interaction from you. If you have any questions or would like to focus on any areas of a build in particular, please share those interests.
Thanks, we will see you next time!"
