Building AK's vs Building AR's
Welcome to The Firearms Creed, todays topic will be on building AK’s vs building AR’s. If you are looking at building either platform then there’s some things you should consider before hand. AR’s are not hard to build and great for beginners, there are plenty of company’s out there like Aero precision or PSA that make plenty of kits to make it easier for beginners. There are some things I would think about when choosing your parts though, there are parts that are going to make your AR shoot and feel way better. These areas of focus are going to be things like bolt carrier groups, barrels, triggers, and buffers/buffer springs. These parts can not only make your AR feel way more high quality while shooting but will also expand the lifespan of your AR overall.
Now when building an AK this will be an entirely different experience, not only can good quality parts be hard to come by, but they are usually a lot more expensive. I would not define this building process as a beginner build, you need more tools and more knowledge when it comes to building AK’s. The AK building process is a lot of test fitting tweaking and test fitting again, if you are considering building an AK I wouldn’t expect it to be a quick process especially if you are wanting some of the good Eastern European parts. There are companies like PSA that allow you to buy build kits that you can add the furniture and triggers which allows beginner builders to dabble in the AK world. Overall AR’s are easier to build but, in the end, if you feel the desire to build the best way to learn is to try it for yourself. Share with us what your next build will be. Thanks, we will see you next time!
